I am a music teacher and composer, and I use music to empower my students. In 2018, my friend and poet, Isabeth Bakke Hardy asked me to write music to her poem "The Giant Tent." It's about a little immigrant boy separated from his parents and detained at the Mexican Border in a giant tent.
On October 11, 2018, the Giant Tent in El Paso, Texas, housed hundreds of immigrant children. It has taken me almost two years to complete the music and now, in 2020, hundreds of children are still waiting to be reunited with their families.
And so this song has become a rally cry to bring these children back into the arms of their mothers.
Thank you for watching "The Giant Tent." Please share this video widely on social media and among your friends.
